Clean Up on Aisle 1: Tidying up Noah's Story

Greetings to my brothers, companions, and friends - fellow travelers all! I've been catching my breath for a couple weeks since my most recent book was released and I've slowed my work pace to a couple major writing projects while I clear my mind a bit. As I have considered my various projects, coming (imminent) "life priorities", and some unmet personal objectives, I have decided it is time to take care of some unfinished business; I began work today on the Second Edition of "Noah's Quest Volume I: Trial at the Gate"!

Noah's Quest - Trial at the Gate

When I originally finished writing the initial draft of "Trial at the Gate" there were some circumstances that forced me to publish ahead of my scheduled and planned target date. The draft only went through one initial editorial review which I knew at the time was woefully inadequate. As I proceeded through the rest of the "Noah's Quest" series and "Noah's Legacy", I developed a more-disciplined draft and edit process that I did have in place and did not apply to "Trial at the Gate".

A "Noah's Quest: Trial at the Gate" reader will notice some confusing phrasing, some rough grammar, and a few errors. I confess the piece began merely as a short story and only evolved to a book (and then to a series) as I wrote the final chapter and Epilogue - "Trial at the Gate" was never intended to be published in long form. That initial presumption of mine may have led me into a form of short sighted and perhaps even lazy decisions as I pressed the effort thinking it would be merely a story on my website. And then as I consulted with Perfect Ashlar Publishing on pressing ahead with a book, some issues also arose behind the scenes that forced me to forward my draft in its extant form to the publisher for publication without the benefit of time and a disciplined editorial process.

I am happy to announce that I have now begun re-editing "Noah's Quest: Trial at the Gate". I will put it through my process paces and work with the publisher to develop new cover art. My goal is to complete work and re-publish the volume perhaps in September at which time the first edition will be removed from the market and replaced. If you are a collector and enjoy original works and collector editions, you might consider picking up your copy of "Noah's Quest: Trial at the Gate" Volume I before the end of August because once the second edition is released, the first edition will be discontinued.

To those who have followed Noah Lewis around through the four books of his quest and then into his legacy (Noah's Legacy: Rude Awakening), I thank you and I hope you have found something interesting and maybe even meaningful in the story line! I will use the time during this re-write to ponder the future of Noah Lewis and his various cohorts that have joined him along the winding path of his journey and whether there might be additional "Noah books" and yes, Noah gets a vote if he so chooses.

To those specifically who may have been curious or surprised at the relative roughness in the quality of the writing in the first edition of "Trial at the Gate", all I can say is I was too and help and corrections are on the way!

"A Mason's Journey" - The Book Collection
A Mason's Journey - The Book Collection

If you have not read my Noah books I understand; the story line is not for everyone, but if you are curious I invite you to join Noah Lewis and discover what he learns about masonry, masonic tenets and principles, and how they integrate with a man's life to form his journey to that undiscovered country whose bourne and from which no traveler returns. You can find brief descriptions of each of my books on my website and, if you are so inclined, you can click on each book to order them through Amazon! Simply click HERE to find my book catalog. Please keep in mind ALL proceeds go directly to my lodge in the form of a donation. I do not keep any of proceeds and I do not use proceeds for re-investing in my brand (such as it is). Each purchase of every book is a donation to my lodge.

Journey on my brothers - perhaps you will meet Noah along your way!
